Ontology-based Descriptions of Image Collections

چکیده
Thesaurus have been widely used to provide structured vocabularies to describe books, however, they only provide part of the required knowledge for semantic web contexts. This paper proposes the use of ontologies and standard metadata to model semantic descriptions of image collections that refers to book covers. Ontologies represent keyword-based organizations. The classes and the hierarchical relationships of the ontology allow users to query images by topic with common search engines. The greenBookC collection is used as a test bed. This collection is published and maintained in Greenstone, a suite of software for digital libraries.

Saliency Cognition of Urban Monuments Based on Verbal Descriptions of Mental-Spatial Representations (Case Study: Urban Monuments in Qazvin)
Urban monuments encompass a wide range of architectural works either intentionally or unintentionally. These works are often salient due to their inherently explicit or hidden components and qualities in the urban context. Therefore, they affect the mental-spatial representations of the environment and make the city legible. However, the ambiguity of effective components often complicates their...

The current trend of image retrieval is to incorporate the image visual features used in Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) and semantics annotations used in Metadata Based Image Retrieval to enhance retrieval performance. Because of the pervasive of consumer imaging devices, building personal digital photograph libraries became an increasingly interested domain. Personal digital photograph c...
متن کاملSPECIES OF MELILOTUS IN IRAN (KEY TO THE SPECIES, DESCRIPTIONS AND THEIR DISTRIBUTIONS)
The genus Melilotus contains altogether some 20 species (WIERSEMA et al. 1990) in the world which mostly distributed in Europe, Central and SW. Asia and N. Africa (HUCHINSON 1964). BOISSIER (1872) listed 13 species of Melilotus in which 6 of them are found in the Iranian flora. PARSA (1948) following Boissier’s work referring some new collections made by other workers, listed the same species n...
متن کاملMedical Imaging on the Semantic Web: Annotation and Image Markup
Medical images are proliferating at an explosive pace, similar to other types of data in e-Science. Technological solutions are needed to enable machines to help researchers and physicians access and use these images optimally. While Semantic Web technologies are showing promise in tackling the information challenges in biomedicine, less attention is focused on leveraging similar technologies i...
